Filming has been continuing on the second of Marvel's 2013 releases, Thor: The Dark World, for some time now. Thus, we know that Game Of Thrones' Alan Taylor is directing, with Chris Hemsworth reprising the role of Thor once more. Furthermore, Christopher Eccleston has joined the cast in the villain role.
It's also known that Natalie Portman is returning to play Jane Foster again, although a new report suggests she might have something in common with Hugo Weaving. Weaving, last week, revealed that he'd signed the usual multi-movie deal when committing to Marvel's Captain America. However, he also said that he had no desire at all to return to the role.
Portman also signed a similar deal, and according to TG Daily, she is "being forced into her contractual role as the romantic lead in Thor 2 ... despite a desire to back out".
Elsewhere on Thor 2, the filming has now moved from Iceland, where the production was most recently based, back to the UK. Reports suggest that the film is now based in Greenwich, at the Old Naval College. It sounds like it's very UK-centric material that's being shot, too.
Finally - and we're about to enter (mild) spoiler territory - there's a piece of potential casting news.
We said at the top of the piece that Christopher Eccleston was set to play the villain this time around, but that doesn't mean that there's not room for Loki, too. Tom Hiddleston's involvement in Thor: The Dark World had been expected, but not confirmed. Watchers of the actor's Twitter account would have been able to follow the clues, though, as Hiddleston wrote " Sometimes the answer is to climb the nearest mountain and everything is better. Literally. Not a metaphor. #iceland"
It seems the question is not whether Loki is in Thor 2 then, rather how big his role will be. More news as we get it...
