As popular and well regarded as Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy movies are, the initially planned third film in the series still doesn't look close. Yet as unlikely as the completion of the trilogy is (although there's the occasional rumour and report that it may be happening), there are still some that keep hope.
One such person is actress Selma Blair. Speaking to Bloody Disgusting, she said that “It's my dream to work with Guillermo del Toro again. I just want to be near him. I love him. I miss him. It's my dream that one day when I'm down with the TV show (Anger Management) they say, 'ok the movie's actually going to go!' That would be the biggest heaven.”
Blair went on to talk about where to go after the ending of Hellboy II: The Golden Army: “I mean it's all set up. Hellboy 3 is the biggest payoff and the biggest horror. I want to see what these twins are up to, if one's the devil and one's an angel. I want to see what Hellboy and Liz are up to! I know the film is the apocalypse and the apocalypse isn't cheap to shoot so we have to find some funding and get going with it!”
As good as a third Hellboy movie would be, it does seem somewhat unlikely at this point, especially given how many projects del Toro currently has lined up. When you add to that Ron Perlman's reported reluctance to spend significant amount of time in makeup (although again, he may be cooling on said reluctance), the project does feel like a long shot. Here's hoping it happens, though...
