Those involved in the upcoming Superman reboot, Man of Steel, have done a decent job in keeping many of the details under wraps so far. Sure, we know who's in it, have had a few set photos and a couple of teaser trailers, but beyond that there's not a great deal to go on which is all rather refreshing by today's standards. Mind you, there's the best part of a year to go yet.
To keep our appetites whetted, though, Amy Adams has been discussing her take on the Lois Lane character and how it's another in a long line of strong female characters that the actress has portrayed.
“It was fun. It was intimidating because [the role] was played before by Margot Kidder, whom I love. One of my favourite movies growing up was Superman and Superman 2. I was kind of a nerd; I loved them so much”.
Amy Adams is one of us? We warm to her still further.
She then went onto explain what she will bring to the role. “It was important to create a character that was new because I thought she was perfect. It's hard to step into a role where you thought someone had already achieved what could be achieved. But coming from theatre, you're always stepping into a role that's been done before, so you're always excited about it.”
In another interview Adam's elaborated on some of the points raised above. “It's a totally different realisation of the Superman lore, so I felt free in that way because I wasn't trying to emulate any sort of banter that had been established by Christopher Reeve and Kidder. I was given permission to create a new character.”
Man Of Steel is released on the 14th June 2013, and we'll bring you more news on it as we get it.
