A rather strong hit earlier in the year for Universal was the the union of Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds in Safe House. And there was certainly a lot to like about the film, not least the direction of Daniel Espinosa. He's very much a talent to watch.
The film banked $202m at the worldwide box office, and has been proving a hit on DVD and Blu-ray, too. And Universal is so pleased with it, that it's started work on a sequel.
Davis Guggenheim, who penned the original, has been hired to put together a screenplay to Safe House 2: Even Safer (we'd bet a lot of money that won't be what it ends up being called). It's not clear at this stage whether either Washington or Reynolds will be involved, although the latter is likely to be. But as we find out more, we'll let you know.
