As we've just heard, Whedon's been signed for an "exclusive deal" with Marvel, meaning that he's all set to write and direct The Avengers 2, as well as an ABC Avengers spin-off TV series.
But this Marvel deal also suggests he may be about to work on other Marvel-related properties as well as Avengers. Yesterday, we heard that the ABC Hulk TV series was waiting in a holding pattern until a certain "very, very concrete" writer became available:
"We have a writer that we want to bring on board, a very, very concrete name. I can’t reveal it, but we want to wait for that writer. It’s a writer who is otherwise engaged. So right now we are in a holding pattern until that writer becomes free. Then we’re going to do a new draft of the script.”
That's what Guillermo del Toro told Collider in a recent interview. Is that mystery writer Joss Whedon? It's pure conjecture right now, but we certainly hope so.
