Following last year's Cowboys & Aliens, Jon Favreau has been busy with a number of projects in various capacity, the most high profile of which would be the executive producer role for the upcoming NBC series Revolution, as well as Avengers Assemble and Iron Man 3 for Marvel, the latter of which is currently in production. He has also been confirmed as a cast member for Martin Scorsese's The Wolf Of Wall Street and has been approached by Disney to direct their latest film based on one of their rides, The Magic Kingdom.
So it's safe to say that he's a man in demand at present, but that hasn't stopped him signing up for another project, as he's confirmed as the director for the adaptation of Jersey Boys. Given the huge popularity of the stage show, and the general greatness of the music featured, this could certainly be a great choice for the director.
Set to shoot in January 2013, it will take priority over The Magic Kingdom. The film focuses on the career of The Four Seasons, charting their rise to popularity in the 1960s. The story is a candid one that doesn't shy away from the darker aspects of the group's career, so should have all the makings to be a quality biopic/musical.
Notices have been sent out to agencies, as the studio is no doubt keen to get the cast locked down pretty quick, so it'll only be a matter of time until we hear who will be playing Frankie Valli, Bob Guadio, Tommy Devito and Nick Massi. The notices have stated a preference for Italian-American actors and preferably ones who can sing and play instruments. We'll let you speculate as to who would be good choices for the role.
