The last time Warner Bros pressed ahead with a standalone Catwoman movie, the end result really wasn't very pretty at all. However, it was Christopher Nolan, a week or two back, who suggested that there might be something in a new Catwoman spin-off, now that Anne Hathaway is in the role of Selina Kyle. And when quizzed about it herself, Hathaway had some enthusiasm for the idea, with a caveat.
She told Digital Spy that "I think it would be lovely to see more of her but only if it's with the right people". She added that "She lives in this Gotham City and so it would have to be established by the people who have made this Gotham City. For me, at least."
That suggests that for a Hathaway-headline Catwoman movie to happen, Christopher Nolan would need to be involved, at least in the setting-up of the project. And while he's overseeing Zack Snyder's Superman film, he's not given any hint at all that he'd want to remain linked to Gotham City in any way going forward.
Still, with Warner Bros looking to find as many ways as possible to make its DC Comics properties work on the big screen, Catwoman may very well be an option...
