Understandably, there’s quite a bit of anticipation surrounding the latest in the Assassin's Creed series. With a total switch in setting and a new hero heading up the proceedings, Assassin’s Creed III is all ready to breathe a new lease of life into the license, and from the gameplay content demonstrated in this E3 footage, this could well be the best ‘Creed yet.
Starting off with a little freeform hunting, further demonstrating Connor’s ability to scale and traverse the organic American wilderness, not to mention his heightened awareness when it comes to melee combat, as he fends of a pack of wolves, the demo soon switches to an altogether more AC-like assassination.
Here we see Connor infiltrate an enemy fort, not before showing off some nifty new melee combat skills and Uncharted-style landscape clambering. This is followed by a cool-as-ice assassination that shows just what the new game engine and mechanics will be able to offer payers of the game when it arrives on October 31.
Assassin’s Creed III certainly appears to have all the bases covered, and the move to a new setting and a much more organic and open landscape may well help reinvigorate the series. Connor’s new combat, hunting and assassination abilities also look to further polish the seamless gameplay.
