Recently, we've had the announcements of multiple on screen collaborations between Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger (The Expendables 2, The Tomb), and now it looks as though Sly is keen to appear on screen with another giant of cinema, as he's set to appear in Grudge Match with Robert De Niro.
The film is a boxing comedy, where two former boxers come out of retirement to face off against each other one last time. It'll be directed by Peter Segal (Get Smart) with Entourage's Doug Ellin working on the latest draft of the script.
I'm not too sure how ethical it would be to have two men pushing 70 face off against each other in the ring in real life, perhaps that's where the comedy will come in. This won't be too much of a stretch for Sly as he's in pretty damn good shape and looked convincing in Rocky Balboa a few years back, but in the politest possible terms, De Niro's physique from Raging Bull is a distant memory. You have to wonder if he's upto the challenge of bulking up to be a convincing opponent for Stallone.
I'm all up for the pair being on screen together again however as Cop Land is a favourite of mine and the pair showed decent chemistry there, so this is a film that certainly has some potential.
