Coming via VG24/7 is news that details of the upcoming Battlefield 3 Premium service, a blatant cribbing of Activision’s CoD Elite setup, has surfaced online.
Taking the form of a leaked fact sheet (which you can see above), the information clearly points to a service that’s geared to greatly rewarding subscribers, and offering plenty of exclusive content.
Particularly interesting points include the prioritising of server queues for subscribers, and the inclusion of all of the expansion packs for the title. Also included is the ability to gain two weeks early access to extra content, unique in game items and outfits, exclusive double XP events, battle reports and much more.
It’s not a great departure from CoD Elite, but it’s sure to cause the inevitable slew of hate across the internet, much like Elite did. What’s odd about the release, however, is that the service is launching so long after the game’s initial release. Will players that are many months in to the game be interested in the service, or should it have launched with the game if it was to attract subscribers? Only time will tell.
