Bethesda is working on a brand new horror IP with one of the industries most notable survival horror creators…
In what could well be a pairing made in heaven as Bethesda Softworks has announced that it's working on a new horror-themed title with non other than Resident Evil creator, Shinji Mikami, creative director for Tango Gameworks.
The new game, called Zwei, is going to be what Mikami calls a pure survival horror title, one that focuses on the core elements that have made the genre so successful.
"A true ‘survival horror' game is one in which the player confronts and overcomes fear," Mikami said in the announcement. "I've found my focus and once again I'm striving for pure survival horror. I am being very hands-on in the development of this game to ensure that the quality is there. Rest assured."
There are no real details about the game at this time, but with Mikami heavily focused on creating a true survival horror experience that returns to the core values of the genre, here's hoping that it'll combat other big horror names sliding further into generic action fare (I'm looking at you Resi!).
Also, teaming up with Bethesda, which knows a little bit about creating atmospheric and hugely deep titles, should help create a very interesting survival horror experience. This could be very good, indeed.
