Production is coming to an end on the sequel to the Star Trek reboot, and both Benedict Cumberbatch and Chris Pine have been chatting about it...
Independently of each other, both Chris Pine and Benedict Cumberbatch have teased a detail or two about the upcoming, still-unnamed Star Trek reboot sequel from JJ Abrams.
Pine is reprising his role as Captain Kirk in the film, and he’s told Access Hollywood that “you pick up the characters from where they left off, and the development of the characters, I think, is just as exciting as the first one. And it’s relentless. I think that’s the best adjective I can use”.
In keeping with the veil of secrecy on the project, we’re not absolutely sure that Pine has told us anything there.
Benedict Cumberbatch, meanwhile, does at least hint that he’s the villain of the film, as has been widely speculated (but not confirmed).
“The character I’m playing, he’s strong. I can say that much. I’ve changed my physique a bit, so that requires eating like a foie gras goose, well beyond your appetite. And, providing I don’t feel too ill, I then work out two hours a day with a phenomenal trainer. It’s the L.A. way”.
We wonder if that means he has to lose all of his new-found muscles when it comes to reprising the role of Sherlock?
Cumberbatch also noted that “Just the range of stuff I get to do in one day, it's great. Also, what he's asking me, it's just wonderful. I can't say much nicer than that. I'm basically raving about it, and I don't have a gun pointed to my head”.
Pine also added that shooting on the movie is nearly over. “We’re almost done”, he said. “It’s wrapping up very soon. It’s just as action-packed as the first one”.
The film arrives in summer 2013.
