Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are given the job of writing The Amazing Spider-Man 2…
As Sony gets ready for the July release of its webslinger reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man, it’s also got a very firm eye on its sequel, that has long-since been announced for released in 2014.
And, according to Deadline, it’s looking at bringing some new writing talent on board for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci being hired to pen the screenplay.
Kurtzman and Orci have been busy in recent years, with their work on JJ Abrams’ Star Trek movies the most notable. The pair also wrote for the first Michael Bay Transformers movie, Cowboys & Aliens, Mission: Impossible III and The Island. Plus, there’s the small matter of their TV show, Fringe.
There’s already a draft in place for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, penned by franchise regular James Vanderbilt. It’s up to Orci and Kurtzman to shape that into something closer to what we’ll see in the final film.
In their words, “We grew up as huge Spider-Man fans so, to us, the opportunity to work on this film is akin to being handed the Holy Grail. We love the direction Sony and the filmmakers are taking the Peter Parker/Spider-Man mythology and we couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this legendary franchise.”
More news on the project as we get it…
