Haywire star Gina Carano may be about to appear alongside Dwayne Johnson in Fast & Furious 6, if the latest reports are correct…
Fresh from soundly battering some of Hollywood’s finest actors in Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire, Gina Carano may be about to join the cast of Fast & Furious 6, according to the latest rumours floating in from overseas.
We know that Paul Walker, Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson are going to return, as is director Justin Lin and writer Chris Morgan. And given just how adept Carano was at both hurting people and dangerous driving in Soderbergh's action opus, it’s not difficult to see why Universal would see her as the perfect complement to Johnson’s hulking Luke Hobbs – if the current reports are correct, the two will be working together to capture the petrol head criminals played by Walker and Diesel.
It was rumoured last week that Jason Statham was offered a part in Fast Six, but turned the role down. Is it possible that Carano’s taking on (the presumably rewritten) part originally offered to Statham? It’s little more than conjecture, of course, but it’s possible.
The even bigger question, though, is where Justin Lin takes the series next, after the city-wrecking chaos of Fast Five seemed to take the series to the zenith of car-based, physics-defying madness.
