After starring in Shutter Island; Leonardo DiCaprio is set to star in another adaptation of a Dennis Lehane book...

Warner Brothers has secured an option tp make a movie based on the as-yet unreleased Dennis Lehane novel Live By Night, with Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way company set to produce.

The book is the second part of a planned trilogy by the author, with The Given Day being its predecessor. That novel has yet to be adapted, but was at one time optioned by Sam Raimi. Live By Night will bring back some of the characters from The Given Day and place them in the prohibition era. The deal that Warner Brothers have struck reportedly secures the rights for all instalments of the trilogy.

DiCaprio apparently intends to star but he’s got a fairly busy schedule with his fifth collaboration with Martin Scorsese, The Wolf Of Wall Street, expected to be his next project. Todd Field’s Creed Of Violence is strongly rumoured to follow that. He also has Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained and Baz Lurhmann’s The Great Gatsby set for release.

Considering the quality of the last Dennis Lehane-based movie DiCaprio was involved -Scorsese's Shutter Island - this is one worth getting excited about. Fingers crossed that he’ll find time in his schedule to star, and convince Scorsese that this will be an ideal sixth collaboration...
