There’s a new trailer for Resident Evil 6, and it’s a good ‘un…
If you're still reeling from the awful Operation Racoon City, get ready for a little pick me up in the form of a new trailer for Resident Evil 6, a trailer that reveals some big new plot details.
The trailer reveals that the game will involve an outbreak of a new mutation-spreading virus, this time called the C-Virus, and it looks to be the work of Ada Wong, who would appear firmly sat in the antagonist camp this time.
The returning headliners are, of course, in the thick of it, with Leon and Chris being the main heroes, along with, wait for it... Wesker Jr. Yep, the unnamed character from the first trailer, now known as Jake Muller, is none other than Wesker's son, which would explain his super powered combat. Quite how he will ultimately fit into the RE story arc, and if Albert Wesker will return is unclear. Also returning is Sherry Birkin, who looks to partner up with Wesker Jr. And, to many a fan's delight, we may even see Leon and Chris go head to head. It's all kicking off, make no mistake.
Resident Evil 6 will feature three separate campaigns, one each for Leon, Chris and Jake, and each will play in a very different style. Chris' will be a more action-oriented, à la RE5, whilst Leon's will be a much more traditional RE affair, blending RE 2 and 4, with a more atmospheric survival horror mechanic.
Jake's adventure will be a little different than any previous RE outing, as he specialises in melee combat, and this will be reflected in his campaign. Each of the campaigns will be playable in any order, and just as in Resident Evil 2, actions within one campaign may affect those in the others.
Other details have emerged that confirm that the tank-like classic RE controls are no more, replaced with a more contemporary system, and the game will also feature multiplayer co-op too, similar to RE5.
As you'll see at the end of the trailer, the release date has also changed. The game will now launch on October 2, over a month earlier than previously announced.
Resident Evil 6 has a lot of making up to do with fans of the series, but from the details we've learned and this new trailer, it certainly looks like it's going to have a good chance of bring Resident Evil back to form.
