Rockstar’s GTA V could be with us sooner than you may think, according to a dev team leak…
Although the information was quickly pulled down, a Rockstar employee may have let the cat out of the bag with regards to GTA V's release date, via the rumour generator that is LinkedIn.
Contained within his online CV, Alex O'Dywer, a character animator at Rockstar (now maybe ex-animator at Rockstar), had an entry for GTA V amidst his various shipped projects, along with the apparent Oct 2012 release date bombshell that's got the Internet buzzing.
This release date would topple the projections for the biggest selling game of the year, as GTA V is one of the heaviest hitters around when it comes to shifting numbers and earning cash. Even the hugely anticipated Take Two stablemate release, BioShock Infinite, may well suffer at the hands of Rockstar's juggernaut.
It's for this reason alone that I'm not so sure GTA V really will arrive this year, despite the various other rumours suggesting a summer release. BioShock Infinite is a very high profile title, and is one that Take Two will want to do as well as possible. Releasing that and GTA at the same time would greatly damage sales of either game due to their prestigious status.
I may be wrong, of course, but I'd expect to see BioShock release in October as already officially announced, and GTA V to arrive early next year. So far, Rockstar hasn't issued any comments regarding the leak, but we'll bring you more news as we get it.
