Two actresses are in the running to take the lead in Kimberly Peirce’s new take on Stephen King’s Carrie…
Appreciating that remakes are rarely popular in the early stages of their gestation, Kimberly Peirce’s new take on Stephen King’s Carrie has already earned its fair share of naysayers. The argument runs that there’s a more faithful take on the source material to be made, which should distinguish the film from Brian De Palma’s classic adaptation. And we’ll find out in due course how the project fares.
Right now, it’s at the casting stage, and the frontrunners for the title role? They would be Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass, Hugo), and Haley Bennett, who is currently filming Lawless for Terrence Malick. The role had been offered, Vulture reports, to Shailene Woodley (The Descendants), but she turned it down.
As for who will be playing Carrie’s mother? Jodie Foster has reportedly been approached, and Julianne Moore is also in the running.
When casting is confirmed, we’ll let you know…
