The new RoboCop, Mr Joel Kinnaman, has been talking a little as to what to expect from director Jose Padilha’s reboot…
As he was undertaking promotional duties for the second season of the US take on The Killing, actor Joel Kinnaman was, somewhat unsurprisingly, also quizzed about a major move role that he’s landed recently. Kinnaman is, after all, the new RoboCop, in director Jose Padilha’s reboot, which is set to go before the cameras later this year.
So: what can we expect?
“RoboCop is going to be a lot more human”, Kinnaman revealed. "The first movie is one of my favorite movies. I love it. Of course, [Paul] Verhoeven has that very special tone, and it’s not going to have that tone. It’s a re-imagination of it. There’s a lot of stuff from the original. There are some details and throwbacks, but this version is a much better acting piece, for Alex Murphy and especially when he is RoboCop. It's much more challenging."
Kinnaman revealed, too, that “they’re still working on the suit and how it’s going to look, but the visor is going to be see-through. You’re going to see his eyes”.
He also confirmed that political satire is on the agenda once more, too.
