Warner Bros announces 31-disc Harry Potter boxset

Earlier this year, Warner Bros took the Harry Potter DVDs and Blu-rays off sale, with the promise of something big and special arriving later in the year. That something has just been announced.

Arriving on 10th September, the Harry Potter Wizard’s Collection will boast eight films, lots of never seen before stuff, and “must-have memorabilia” (which includes concept art prints, a Hogwarts map, and catalogues of props and posters).

“This new limited and numbered 31-disc collection contains all eight Harry Potter movies on Blu-ray, DVD and UltraViolet Digital Copy and more than 37 hours of special features including all previously released materials and more than 10 hours of new to disc bonus content, and more than 4 hours of never-before-seen material. Witches and wizards that think they’ve seen everything will marvel at the all-new special features including the final two ‘Creating the World of Harry Potter’ features titled ‘Story’ and ‘Growing Up’. Many other, yet to be revealed, features are also included.”

In addition to the theatrical cuts of each of the films, you get extended versions of the first two films (as if they weren’t long enough already!), and 3D versions of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 1 and Part 2. That’s interesting, as you might remember that Part 1 wasn’t release theatrically in 3D, as Warner Bros wasn’t convinced it was ready. It doesn’t look like the opening 3D scene of Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince is included, though. We’re hardly fans of 3D, as you probably know, but we like to be completists!

Weighing in at 19lb, and costing – yikes! - £259.99, there are four hours of new bonus features in all. It is, unsurprisingly, Warner Bros’ biggest release to date.
