After some high profile names have been linked to the project and dropped out, Darren Aronofsky has finally recruited his Noah...
With Michael Fassbender recently being linked to the role of Noah, after Christian Bale passed, in Darren Aronofsky’s biblical epic, it looked as though the director was closer to bringing his vision of the story to the screen. However, that deal failed to materialise, and the role has gone to another actor who has previously been linked with it: Russell Crowe.
Fassbender and Bale are both damn fine actors, but for this kind of material, I think Crowe might yet be the better fit. A deal has yet to be formally confirmed, but an announcement is expected to be made next week to state that Crowe has indeed landed the role.
Aronofsky has said the following about the project:
”Since I was a kid, I have been moved and inspired by the story of Noah and his family’s journey. The imaginations of countless generations have sparked to this epic story of faith. It’s my hope that I can present a window into Noah’s passion and perseverance for the silver screen.”
“I don’t think it’s a very religious story… I think it’s a great fable that’s part of so many different religions and spiritual practices. I just think it’s a great story that’s never been on film ... He’s a dark, complicated character. The tragedies we perform on each other are so well reported. Quite clearly, the planet is dying, and we are dying on it.”
Noah was originally set to go in front of cameras in the spring but has been delayed until July.
