After what seems like an eternity of waiting, hardcore Diablo fans can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel, as Blizzard has announced that the game is set for a May 15 release date.
The third instalment of the loot-heavy RPG, one of the most popular ever released, has suffered several delays, but that long wait will soon be over, even if some fear that the game will be missing some key features. There's also the imminent arrival of Guild wars 2, which will no doubt put pressure on the Blizzard release.
Still, there's no shortage of Diablo lovers out there eager to get their hands on the game, and you can log on to Battle.net and pre-purchase the game, so you'll be ready and raring to go on the day of release.
Diablo III will also ship in a collector's edition format, which will include a soundtrack, art book, making of DVD and Blu-ray and a 4GB soulstone USB drive containing the full Diablo II and the expansion, Lord of Destruction. Now, that's a collector's edition worth saving up for.
If you're a World of Warcraft player, you can even get Diablo III for free if you sign up to the new World of Warcraft annual pass, which is a yearly subscription to the MMO. This is no doubt a tactic to combat WoW's falling subscriber base.
