The Amazing Spider-Man is lined up for release this summer, and its star, Andrew Garfield, has been chatting a little about playing the title role…
Given that the film isn’t out for a good few months yet, Andrew Garfield already seems to have done an awful lot of press for this summer’s The Amazing Spider-Man. You’d think that Sony was pushing the film hard, and planning for it to be a major hit or something.
In his latest interview, then, which has popped up over at The Press Association, Garfield has been chatting about the responsibility of playing Marvel’s webslinger.
"All the way through filming the Spider-Man movie, I felt like I was serving something greater than me”, he said. “I wouldn't have done it if I didn't. That character has been an important character to me since I was a kid. And all my concern was to make sure that Peter Parker and the symbol of Spider-Man were treated with the reverence that I have for them".
Garfield also revealed that he’d nattered to Tobey Maguire about the role, and about being the centrepoint of a big movie franchise.
You certainly get the impression that Garfield has had no shortage of enthusiasm for the project. Here’s hoping that the end result, due out in July, measures up to it. We’re looking forward to it more and more.
