Chronicle 2 has taken a step forward, with the news that Max Landis is set to return to write the new film.
Yesterday, we reported the news that Chronicle director Josh Trank was in the frame to direct Sony’s planned Spider-Man spin-off, Venom. However, around the time of the release of Chronicle earlier this year, Trank had told us that there were ideas for a potential sequel.
Turns out, those ideas might be about to be used.
Deadline is reporting that Max Landis, who wrote the first film, has signed up to pen Chronicle 2. It’s unclear whether Josh Trank will be back to direct, and that presumably depends to an extent on whether the Venom project happens. We hope that he would be, though. Chronicle remains 2012’s unexpected treat, and firmly a must-see movie, and a sequel with Landis and Trank on board would be something to look forward to.
More news on the film as we get it.
