The controversial drama Skins will end with three special episodes in 2013, it's been revealed.
This is one of those stories that’s supposed to be headlined, we suspect, with ‘Skins Axed’ or ‘Skins Cancelled’. But it seems a bit odd and mean to do so. For thise was no one season wonder or anything of that ilk. Instead, it’s run for six complete series, which in the modern television world is no mean feat for a scripted drama.
Still. Channel 4 has confirmed that the current series will be the last of the show, and then it’s planning to send off Skins for good with a trio of special episodes in 2013.
Love it or hate it, Skins has been a groundbreaking piece of television drama, and all concerned deserve congratulations for it. We’re not going to argue against the fact that it might well have reached the end of its natural life, but it’s been some achievement to get it that far.
