21 Jump Street doesn’t hit cinemas until next month, but Jonah Hill has already confirmed that a sequel has been commissioned…
A film we’re still not officially allowed to talk about, the upcoming action comedy 21 Jump Street might yet surprise a few people. At heart, a big screen take on the hit TV series, the film version stars Academy Award nominee Jonah Hill, and Channing Tatum. Hill also produced and co-wrote the film, and as he’s revealed to E!, he’s already hard at work on the follow-up, too.
“We are writing the sequel now”, he confirmed. “We got [the greenlight] by the studio to start writing the sequel”.
Of course, it’s not a new approach to get the script going on a follow-up before the first film has been released, and it generally leads to a two, rather than three, year turnaround between films as a consequence.
21 Jump Street arrives in cinemas next month, and we’d be genuinely surprised if there wasn’t enthusiasm for a follow-up, and solid box office returns, after it’s released.
22 Jump Street, then?
