Stephen Mangan returns as Douglas Adams’ holistic detective in three brand new episodes from the creator of Misfits
Following a successful 2010 pilot from Misfits creator Howard Overman, last year the Beeb announced it had commissioned three new episodes of comedy Dirk Gently, loosely adapted from Douglas Adams’ novels about the world’s only holistic detective.
Stephen Mangan (Episodes, Green Wing) returns in the titular role, alongside Darren Boyd, Helen Baxendale, Jason Watkins and Lisa Jackson, all of who appeared in the pilot episode (read our review here).
The three-part series run begins next week on Monday March 5th at 9pm on BBC Four, with an opener written by Overman and helmed by The Fades director, Tom Shankland. Episode one sees Dirk dealing with one client who believes the Pentagon is trying to have him killed, and another who believes their horoscope is coming true.
Episodes two and three are written respectively by Torchwood and Doctor Who writer Matt Jones and Being Human's Jamie Mathieson.
