The cogs are moving into place for Frank Darabont's post-The Walking Dead cable series, L.A Noir...
Warning: this story may contain a potential spoiler for The Walking Dead
With the first post-Darabont episodes of The Walking Dead now airing on AMC (read our justifiably impressed reviews here), news arrives that the former AMC showrunner’s next project is moving forward. L.A Noir, adapted from the book by John Buntin, is set in late-forties Los Angeles and chronicles the real-life conflict between the LAPD and criminal elements led by Mickey Cohen.
Darabont, whose dismissal by AMC last summer excited not a small amount of bemusement and outrage, is developing the series for TNT and plans to film the pilot this April. Today’s news is that Heroes actor Milo Ventimiglia has joined the cast as Ned Stax, a former marine-turned lawyer being groomed to work for the mob.
More interestingly though – and this is where the potential spoiler lies – is the rumour doing the rounds that The Walking Dead’s Jon Bernthal is in talks for a lead role in L.A Noir. Bernthal, who plays Shane Walsh in the hit zombie series is thought to be up for the part of LAPD officer Joe Teague.
This may not come as any surprise to fans of the comic books, but if Bernthal is leaving for L.A Noir, does that mean Shane’s days on The Walking Dead are numbered?
