With production well underway on Pacific Rim, Guillermo del Toro might just have his next project, and leading lady, lined up already...
After years of working on The Hobbit and At The Mountains Of Madness came to nothing audiences have had a long wait for a new film from Guillermo de Toro, and now it looks as though the director is making up for lost time. Right now, he's working away on Pacific Rim, due for release in the summer of 2013. But he’s looking ahead to his next project already: Beauty and the Beast.
The film is one of the many projects that Guillermo del Toro has been planning for some time now, and considering its themes, it’s easy to see the appeal the story has for the director.
For the lead role of the beauty, Emma Watson is in final negotiations, and Andrew Davies (Bridget Jones’s Diary, lots of posh costume dramas) has been hired to pen the script based on an outline by del Toro.
The project is likely to be some way from going into production, but it’s always great news to hear of new projects from del Toro. I’d imagine that his old buddy Ron Perlman will be waiting by the phone for a call, given that we know he plays a cracking beast based on his work on the 80’s TV series.
More news on del Toro’s adaptation of Beauty and the Beast when we get it.
