Valve quickly reassures Steam users that outage is nothing to do with hack attacks
Earlier today, Valve's Steam platform encountered a few issues, which resulted in the service and website becoming unavailable for a short time. This caused some users to worry, fearing that the problem was related to the hacking issues, which Gabe Newell commented on a couple of days ago.
Thankfully, it didn't take long for the service to be restored, and the Twitter feed for Steam's support was kept updated, assuring users that the service was down to a faulty UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).
As posted on Twitter, "Our data center's UPS experienced a power failure. Power is back on now and working to get service restored asap."
The service has since been resorted, with a few small loose ends to be tied up here and there.
