With the release of Prometheus but months away, Ridley Scott has fast-tracked drug trade drama The Counsellor, with an eye to begin filming in May...

Ridley Scott is keeping himself busy of late, with Prometheus set for release this year and the long-rumoured sequel to Blade Runner on the cards. Meanwhile, he's managed to find time to start work on another feature, as he's committed to direct the Counsellor, based on a script by Cormac McCarthy.

The appeal of the project is evident, given just how well previous adaptations of the author’s works have been received, and that this script is being likened to No Country For Old Men on steroids. Bold words indeed.

Rumours have it that Scott is eyeing a May 1st start date for the production, so he’ll be juggling directorial duties on this along with promoting Prometheus, presumably, given that the Alien prequel has a 1st June release date. Scott is in the process of talking to a number of potential leading men, but Prometheus star Michael Fassbender is rumoured to be the favourite.

The Counsellor follows a well respected lawyer who dabbles in the drug trade, but soon finds himself in over his head as he tries to survive and escape a desperate situation.

The combination of Scott, McCarthy and Fassbender sure is an exciting one from where we’re sitting. More news on this as it comes in.
