There's an off-chance that this story contains a spoiler for The Avengers. But we don't think this particular rumour is true...
News of an additional villain in Joss Whedon’s The Avengers was leaked courtesy of a press release for the tie in toy line recently. And now? At first glance, it appears that a major cameo appearance in the film has also been revealed.
According to Jenny Agutter, who will be playing a female council member in the film, there will be an appearance by none other than Spider-Man.
"I’m sworn to secrecy. I wasn’t allowed a script until I got there, and when I did I felt like a complete child being on big sets and a huge parking lot full of Winnebagos,"
She then followed up that statement in an interview with the Radio Times, saying that two of the Winnebagos were for Iron Man and Spider-Man.
Hmmm.
We're going to call bullshit on this one, if it's all the same with you. Sony has the movie rights to Spider-Man locked up, and it's far more likely in our eyes that Agutter got her superheroes mixed up, than some deal being done to allow Peter Parker to appear in Disney/Marvel's The Avengers movie.
We are, of course, happy to be proved wrong on 27th April, when The Avengers arrives in the UK.
