The legal mire engulfing the remake/reboot/whatever of The Crow has been cleared. Full steam ahead for the film, then?
The proposed new take on The Crow has already lost Bradley Cooper as its lead, and the project had threatened to be swallowed up by a bubbling lawsuit between The Weinstein Company and Relativity Media.
The Weinstein Company had taken the matter to court, arguing that it had the worldwide exclusive distribution rights for The Crow, which meant that Relativity Media’s planned new film was in jeopardy.
Now, the news has filtered through that said lawsuit has been settled out of court, and “the parties will continue to work on the film together as planned”.
That said, it’s going to take a bit of work to get the project back on the road. Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo quit the project back in October, which means it’s currently without a star and director. It’ll all likely come back together, but in what state and with who is, as yet, unclear.
We’ll keep you posted.
