Odeon Cinemas confirms that it has issued refunds, after complaints from some moviegoers that there's no dialogue in The Artist.

Ready to feel some despair?

According to The Daily Telegraph, there have been instances of complaints from UK cinemagoers over The Artist. The award-magnet film from Michel Hazanavicius has won rapturous applause from critics, but a small number of viewers are complaining, because they didn’t realise it was a silent film.

Den Of Geek is, if you weren’t aware, run from the UK, and we apologise wholeheartedly on behalf on the nation that the refunds and complaints have happened on our shores.

It gets worse, though. Apparently, the Odeon cinema chain has, at one of its Liverpool cinemas, granted refund requests to disgruntled customers. That the lack of spoken words and failure to use the full screen was cause for getting your money back. It beggars belief.

A spokesman for Odeon told The Telegraph that "The cinema is happy to offer guests a refund on their film choice is they raise concern with a member of staff within 10 minutes of the film starting."

It’s a good job people don’t stay beyond that first ten minutes, then, as they might get hit with the revelation that there’s no drawing or painting in it, too. There'll be hell to pay when they find out that Big Momma is played by a man.

It also has sad echoes of disgruntled customers after watching Drive and Sweeney Todd, too.

Again, sorry. We really don’t know what else to say. As one Twitter commenter put it, “these people really don’t deserve nice films”.
