The rebooted snowboarding sim SSX is out next month, and to mark the occasion, EA has released a great tie-in comic…
It’s been almost five years since an SSX game last graced our screens, but finally, EA’s superb snowboarding series is back, with a reboot that gives the series a harder edge. It’s also the first HD game in the series, which means SSX’s avalanches, blizzards and cave-ins will look more beautiful and dramatic than ever.
Ahead of SSX’s release next month, EA has issued a comic, which aims to reintroduce the game’s characters, and tell long-term fans what they’ve been up to while the franchise has been off our screens. It also provides a flavour of the tone and atmosphere in the game itself – loveably oddball characters like Mac and Kaori are making a return, along with the usual death-defying tricks, but there’s a new emphasis on survival, from dangerous helicopter drops to unforeseen changes in the weather.
We’ve provided an excerpt below to give you an idea of how good it looks – and if you click the image or the link we’ve handily provided here, you’ll be able to read the full comic, for free, on EA’s blog. It’s well worth a look – it features some great art from Agustin Padilla, and its story is by Sean Smillie and Rees Savidis, the game’s writers.
SSX is due out in the UK on 17th February for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Meanwhile, you can read our look back over the SSX series here.
