One of horror’s most lucrative franchises grinds to a close with this October’s Saw 3D. And here’s the new trailer…
Love it or loathe it, the Saw franchise has been phenomenally successful. Made on a comparatively tiny budget of just over one million dollars, the first feature-length Saw movie went on to make over $100 million at the box office, and numerous sequels, videogame adaptations, and even theme park rides, have followed in its wake.
Released annually since 2004, the series will conclude with November's Saw 3D, the seventh and final instalment, which will, no doubt, bring the grizzly deaths of the previous films to their gory zenith.
The biggest budget Saw film yet, Saw 3D again stars series regular Tobin Bell as Jigsaw, which is pretty impressive since, as far as we can remember, he had his throat cut open with a power saw in Saw III. Costas Mandylor and Betsy Russell return for more punishment, having survived the mayhem of Saw VI, and Cary Elwes reprises his role of Dr. Gordon, who memorably hacked off his own foot in the original movie.
In keeping with series tradition, Saw 3D will arrive in time for Halloween, opening in the UK on 29 October. In the meantime, here's the latest trailer...
