Lionsgate is looking to bring a fresh take on American Psycho to the big screen. In exchange for not very much money...
Fancy another dose of remake rage? Then pull up a chair, we've got a corker for you. Lionsgate wants to do another adaptation of American Psycho.
Yep, you read that right.
Granted, the 2000 adaptation is flawed in many ways, and misses out a lot of the book's more gruesome moments (possibly for good reason). But it remains entertaining, a fascinating watch, and features a great central (and arguably career-turning) performance from Christian Bale. Certainly whoever follows him as Patrick Bateman has some rather big, and indeed expensive, designer shoes to fill.
If the simple fact that it is being remade wasn't bad enough, then we're got more. Lionsgate wants the film, apparently, to be a micro budget production, focussing on Bateman reacting to living in the modern world whilst carrying on with his serial killer ways.
The film will be written and directed by Noble Jones, who has worked with David Fincher for some time, and this will mark his feature length debut. There's thus a chance that it'll work. But, right now, it sounds a scary project from where we're sitting...
