Spike Lee’s American take on Oldboy needs a new villain, after Colin Firth passes on the role…
Spike Lee’s planned Hollywood remake of Oldboy heads before the cameras early next year, but the hunt for an actor to play the villain role is ongoing.
That’s because Colin Firth, who was in the frame for the part, has now apparently turned it down. He was set to play opposite Josh Brolin in the movie, but Twitch Film reports that Firth has passed on the opportunity.
Appreciating that the Oldboy remake has its fair share of detractors at the mere thought of it, it’d be an interesting case of playing against type for Firth. Not to be, though.
With production due to start soon, the hunt is now on for someone to take on the role. When we get more news on it, we’ll bring it your way…
