What's the current status of Jurassic Park 4? And are they really thinking about a 3D re-release of Jurassic Park?
The Adventures Of Tintin: Secret Of The Unicorn is finally opening in the States in the next couple of weeks, and one of its producers is long-time Steven Spielberg collaborator Kathleen Kennedy.
She’s thus doing the press tour for Tintin, and over at Collider, they’ve been asking her about the current state of the long-wished-for Jurassic Park 4. Turns out, the project is still on the cards, but there’s been no major progress.
“A great script is what it’s gonna take to get a fourth Jurassic Park”, she said.
"We have a very high bar for ourselves because we’re just like the audience, we don’t wanna make the movie if there’s not a reason to make the movie. So we’ve kinda created the dilemma ourselves because it was never intended to be a franchise, so there’s an argument to be made ‘Why are you doing a fourth Jurassic Park?’ So we’ve gotta find a good reason for why we’re doing a fourth Jurassic Park and we’re in the midst of working on that right now.”
Not much to feast on there, then, save for the confirmation that there’s still life in the film yet. Our plan for a fourth film would involve big creatures eating people. We didn't get any joy copyrighting that, though.
There’s also, Kennedy confirmed, the possibility of a Jurassic Park 3D re-release. But that one’s looking a longer shot, with the problem being fitting it into Spielberg’s busy schedule. But Universal has definitely asked about it, she's revealed.
