We want to cry. Plans are afoot to remake/reboot Paul Verhoeven's brilliant Starship Troopers...
A pretty crappy way to end a week, sadly. News has reached us, via the folks at Vulture, that Paul Verheoven’s pretty brilliant Starship Troopers is being lined up for the Hollywood reboot treatment.
Sony Pictures and producer Neil Moritz are behind this one, with the job of penning a screenplay for a new take on Starship Troopers falling into the hands of Edward Miller and Zack Stentz (who worked on Thor and X-Men: First Class). How close they'll sail to Robert A Heinlein's novel is unclear.
That’s all we know of the project right now, but given that the original film is only fifteen years old next year, and stands up particularly well, it’s quite depressing that it should have fallen into the reboot/remake trap so soon.
Do you want to know more? We don’t. We hope this never happens. But there’s more on the story at Vulture.
