The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo's distinctive marketing campaign continues, with a moody new poster featuring Rooney Mara, Daniel Craig, and some leaves...
The presence of David Fincher alone is enough to engage our interest in the forthcoming English-language adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, even though some Internet dwellers aren't convinced it should have even been made.
In what may be an attempt to differentiate this version of Stieg Larsson's bestseller, a quite distinctive marketing campaign has been put together, with some earlier posters featuring a nude and rather gaunt Rooney Mara causing a bit of a stir.
This latest effort is rather more restrained, featuring a profile of Mara's face, a heavily airbrushed Daniel Craig looking as though the postman's just pressed the doorbell, and a cameo appearance from some foliage. All in all, there's a pleasantly zen, Eastern feel to the poster, which is nice. We're not sure about some of these taglines, though.
Earlier in the year, Mara's toplessness was accompanied by the legend, "Evil shall with evil be expelled", while the new poster is emblazoned with the words, "What is hidden in snow comes forth in the thaw". They sound a bit Tolkien to us.
The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is out in the UK on 26th December. The perfect post-Christmas movie.
