You don’t have to look far to work out what the most staggering British movie success story of the year has been (aside from, of course, The King's Speech). At the time of these words being written, The Inbetweeners Movie has brought in £43m at the UK box office alone.
To put that into context, that puts it ahead of Cars 2, Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Kung Fu Panda 2, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, Captain America… only Harry Potter and Colin Firth have been able to defeat it.
While it’s not a film that’s got any reasonable chance of doing that sort of business elsewhere on the planet, it’s nonetheless a massive and deserved success story. And you can’t help but think that the DVD and Blu-ray is going to do even better.
A little whisper has come our way, too, which suggests a release date for the discs of The Inbetweeners Movie. And according to our source, 12th December is the day to earmark in your diaries. We should add, nicely covering our backs in the process, that this is not confirmed. But it's looking quite likely.
