Ridley Scott’s proposed Blade Runner sequel looks like it’s slowly moving forward, as a writer is hired to pen a screenplay for it. Details here…
When the news first dropped that a Blade Runner sequel, one produced and directed by Ridley Scott, was in the offing, we can’t be the only ones who thought ithat there wasn’t going to be much to the story.
But more fool us.
Because not only is Blade Runner 2 an active project, it’s just recruited someone to pen the script for it. That man is Scott Burns, who worked on the screenplays of The Bourne Ultimatum and Contagion. He’s now got the job of putting together a new Blade Runner story, although it’s not clear at this stage just where the new film will fit in. Whether it’s a prequel or sequel remains to be seen.
The only certainty, it seems, is that Harrison Ford won’t be back. According to producer Andrew Kosove, “this is a total reinvention, and that means doing everything fresh, including casting”.
