A clip unexpectedly appears of David Tennant performing in an unaired US drama pilot, Rex Is Not Your Lawyer...
A clip has found its way onto YouTube for a US TV pilot. Nothing particularly unusual about that, of course. YouTube is a veritable treasure trove of unaired pilots. Except this one is a little different.
Called Rex Is Not Your Lawyer, the pilot is for a possible legal drama, starring none other than the UK's very own David Tennant in the lead role as Rex Alexander. Shot in late 2009, the pilot introduced Tennant as a high flying Chicago lawyer whose panic attacks become so acute that he begins training his clients to represent themselves in court.
Now, far be it for us to criticise the acting abilities of David Tennant - he was great in Who, and he's an excellent stage thespian to boot - but his accent seems a little off key in this clip. It's possible we're just too used to hearing him talk with the BBC-approved British tones of the Doctor, however, which he managed to pull off perfectly.
NBC passed on the opportunity to commission Rex Is Not Your Lawyer in May this year, and the pilot itself was never aired on US television.
The clip shown below, then, is possibly the only glimpse we'll get of the pilot, unless some kind soul uploads the entire thing...
